Barcelona Race to Be Ran on Usual 2-Races Format

GT Sport Organización has announced during the Monza week-end that the eighth and last round of the season, scheduled in Barcelona 1-2 November, will be held according to the usual race format (two races), instead of the 2-hours single race format traditionally used for the season-closer.

International GT Open teams and drivers still wishing to race a 2-hours event before the winter break will still have the possibility to do so one week later, on 9 November, as they will be very welcome to take part in the last race of the Spanish GT Championship, which will also be the inaugural race in the new international track in Portimão, Portugal.

The decision to keep the normal format in Barcelona was taken upon request of a majority of the teams and given the high importance of the event, which will be decisive for the overall, GTA and Team titles.

Given the high number of entries that the Barcelona event generally attracts, there will be separate races for GTA and GTS classes on Sunday. The event program, therefore, is as follows:
.. Pro-Am Race on Saturday 1st November (GTA + GTS, 60 minutes)
.. GT Open Race on Sunday 2nd November (GTA – 50 minutes)
.. GT Open Race on Sunday 2nd November (GTS – 50 minutes)

GT Sport also confirmed that the annual prize-giving ceremony will take on 2nd November in Barcelona, in the evening following the last races of the season.
The 2-hours race in Portimão on 9 November will be another historic event (after the inauguration of the Valencia Street Circuit last July), as this will be the very first international race in the superb new facility built in the Algarve. The race is valid for the Spanish GT Championship and will clearly not award points for the International GT Open.
